Crying for love

Tears came to the rim of my lower eyelid
Threatening to overflow the eye socket
And they did
Glistening on my cheeks
Over the cheekbones
The cheeks heating up
The nose filling with mucus
Making their way to the quivering chin
And then onto the hands on my lap
I was too weak to wipe off the waterworks
Head bent, my hair plastered all over my face
I thought I was being ridiculous
But this was heartbreak and it was bound to hurt.
